Alpine U14/U16 Full-Time 3 (Saturday & Sunday w/ 3 nights per week)

AGE GROUP:

12 to 15 yrs old - BIRTH YEAR 2007-2010 (discuss U18 options with director)

DESCRIPTION:

A team with focus on competitive preparation, Saturdays and Sundays plus 3 days a week of mid-week training at Chapman Hill with an alternating week of dryland training as the first part of Tuesday training.

Racers will be expected to participate in early season conditioning and early season skiing opportunities leading up to the season. Full-time athletes will focus on individual goal setting, training/competition objectives and health and wellness practices. This will help determine the individual’s strengths, areas of improvement, skill set and overall goals for the program. Goal setting starts pre-season and is revisited two times during the season with meets to track progress. Our U14 program now has more coaching staff available for in-depth and more immediate feedback. This program will start skiing as a group as soon as local resorts are open. Increased training opportunities and protection this season will improve training quality and volume. All team camps are recommended for this group.

Full-time athletes must commit to mid-week training (some exceptions may apply). Full-time athletes also must maintain a B/3.0 average in school by properly managing their training, travel, competition and academics.

Most gate training will be shared with part-time athletes where schedules overlap. Most of the weekend training will focus on Super G/GS sessions and drills with video in the mornings and afternoons. Chapman will focus primarily on SL sessions and video feedback. Hesperus training will be focused on primarily free skiing with a few gate training opportunities.

Where and When:
  • 20 Saturday & 18 Sundays at Purgatory or Race Venue. Beginning December 3rd (or earlier) and ending March 27th, 9am-3pm (typically at Purgatory with possible days at Chapman or Hesperus)
  • Weeknight training options are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at Chapman Hill or Hesperus.
  • Chapman Hill - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday nights 6:30-8:30pm - Chapman Hill is extremely valuable training. The rope tow allows for higher density training on great snow surfaces for racing. Our groups work on skills courses, focused free-skiing, and gate training at Chapman Hill.
  • Hesperus - Nights 4-7pm - Hesperus offers great powder skiing, variable groomed and mogul terrain, and good gate training when conditions allow. Hesperus sessions are rare and may be a substitute for Chapman when free skiing is our best option.
  • Mid-Week training typically starts the first week in January and finishes mid-March. These dates are weather dependent and may be earlier or later.
