9 to 18 yrs old
The DWSC Freeride Team is for athletes, ages 9-18, interested in challenging themselves, shredding the whole mountain and competing in IFSA competitions.
Freeride skiing combines powerful, fast, technical turns with stylish airs in steep variable terrain. Essentially it's a blend of all disciplines. Participants can expect to ski and train everywhere, including the park, race course, groomers, moguls and steeps. Coaching focuses on technique, tactics, IFSA judging criteria and discussion of our "Making Good Decisions" philosophy.
This program is competition focused with opportunities for qualified athletes to attend IFSA freeride competitions. Find more info on competition at rockymountainfreerideseries.com and freeskiers.org
Training also includes in-house freeride competitions, which help prepare athletes for IFSA events. Competition is optional.
Coaching support provided at select IFSA U12 and IFSA Regional events. Coaching support is also provided at the National level if first qualified through the regional system. Coaching Fees are now included with tuition.
This program has a minimum skill requirement - athletes must be comfortable on groomed, black terrain and ski in a parallel stance (no wedging).
